Bio
The blues was born in the heart of America. And on a Texas-bound train was where the blues was introduced to a 6 year-old Myron Barnett. As the young guitarist frequently traveled between California and Texas, Myron Barnett would be exposed to the sweet, and emotionally charged music played by vagrant musicians while in the modest cabins of interstate passenger trains. In these makeshift “classrooms,” he quickly fell in love with the honesty and power of one of America’s original art forms.
A California native, he is co-lead-guitarist and bandleader of his “Myron Barnett Band.” The debut LP, “All In,” is the long awaited culmination of Barnett’s passion for the blues fused with the exceptional musicianship of band members, Joe Green, Bobby Haynes, and Barnett himself. The result is a new brand of blues that is fun, fearless and authentic.
As a young man Myron would create his own music conservatory by studying the all-time greats. Legends such as Howlin’ Wolf, Muddy Waters, and Jimi Hendrix would be his biggest influences, while he also took cues from more contemporary artists like Stevie Ray Vaughan and Eric Clapton. Because of his diverse range of musical mentors, the music of the Myron Barnet Band has a polish that appeals to a wide audience.
But the band’s energy is what makes it rock. Though the subject matter of the songs can be as melancholy as the classics, the animated performances give the band a freshness and excitement that the genre hasn’t seen in many years. And this excitement permeates live performances as well as the dynamic recordings.
The Myron Barnett Experience is one that will take you down to the soul of real American music as well as into the future of an exciting new direction in blues. Don’t miss THE EXPERIENCE.
